5K Race

I ran with a couple of friends of mine (Julee & Mary) ran in a 5K race yesterday at Sandy Creek Park. It was a gorgeous afternoon and I was really excited to run it under 35 minutes. I'd been "training" on a treadmill and thought it would be much harder to run on the pavement, but was pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to my next race! The pictures are taken by my Coach (Donavan) and Cheerleaders (Isaac and my Grandma Powell--Isaac's Gigi--who's visiting from Indiana).

Visit with Mimi and Poppi Yarnall

We went to see the arrival of Santa at the mall.

Craft time with Mimi.

Roller Skating

Donavan took Isaac with him to the roller skating fundraiser for St. Joe's School. Isaac becomes very stoic during first experiences. Although he doesn't appear to be having a great time in these pictures he is still talking about it--especially the piece of pizza he had after skating. It's a chilly, rainy day in Athens and I could tell Isaac missed going to the playground during preschool this morning. As we were walking in I found him jumping in the puddles.

Here are some photos and video of Isaac playing in the leaves yesterday (Monday) afternoon. He had so much fun!

Watson Mill Bridge Nature Trails

It was a gorgeous fall day in Georgia so we headed to Watson Mill Bridge State Park after church this morning. It is located in Comer, Georgia which is about 30 miles east of Athens. The leaves are changing in our neck of the woods and Isaac enjoyed picking up colorful (and some not so colorful) leaves from the ground. The covered bridge was really neat; one of only 20 left in Georgia. It was a peaceful outing. On the way back, we stopped in Colbert, GA (another small town) to take a look at this old fire truck. Isaac talked about driving the fire truck during our hike, but was afraid to climb into the drivers seat when we got to the truck.

Donavan's (Dadda's) Birthday

We celebrated Donavan's birthday today. We went to dinner at Shoki Japanese Steakhouse. Isaac was a bit petrified of the flames, but liked all of the other parts of the presentation of the chief. I think the next time he'll ask for the flames because as we were leaving the restaurant he peeked in on another party and their flames. He asked about it when we got in the car. They also had an acquarium in the front of the restaurant that was a big hit. For dessert Isaac and I made bread pudding. Isaac particularly liked using the whisk.

Weekend in Atlanta

We went to Atlanta for the weekend earlier this month. Donavan had a conference and I found myself strambling for things to do with a toddler in Buckhead. As we were driving towards Buckhead I noticed signs for a Bob the Builder interactive experience at the Children's Museum. Isaac was not familiar with Bob the Builder, but I mentioned it and he demanded that we go. "See Bob Builder now", "see Bob Builder now" he kept saying. I guess he thought it would be something he'd enjoy. Donavan went with us before his conference officially started.
This trip was our second to the Children's Museum. We went last year during a visit with Mimi Yarnall and weren't overly impressed. We are accustomed to the Indianapolis Children Musuem which is very large with several levels including a toddler room, water room and typically have special exhibits. The Bob the Builder exhibit made the entrance fee worth it. Puzzles with tools, rock building wall, bulldozers, plastic hammers, etc.. It was an instant hit.

Isaac and I also took a Sunday morning walk around Oglethorpe University. I love exploring college campuses and Isaac enjoyed the green space. It was a chilly morning and he really enjoyed vegging in the sun.

Duck feeding

We went to feed the ducks at Memorial Park last week.

Halloween Cookie Playdate

We held a small play date at our place this week. This kids decorated Halloween cookie and Isaac worked on sharing his toys with his friends.

Halloween 2008

Isaac had a great time trick or treating! We went with some friends (Mary, Dane, Alexis and Isabelle) and Isaac thoroughly loved going up to the doors and knocking on them. It was helpful to have Alexis (4 yrs) with us because she could show him the ropes. We were out for 1.5 hours and he didn't want to go home. I was so suprised b/c I thought he would be petrified of the costumes (which he generally is). I also thought he would be obsessed with the "dee" (candy), but he really hasn't asked for it since Friday night. One of the pics is a video of Isaac playing using his train whistle.
