Ash Wednesday

Isaac and I went to the "ashes only" service at St. Joe's earlier this week. We talked a lot about what Ash Wednesday meant, etc.. He was so excited to receive his ashes. On the way home, he asked if Mimi and Poppi rec'd their ashes along with some of his friends. We had a discussion that some people don't go to church, etc....very philosophical discussion for 2.5 year old!

Baby Recycle Playdate

Isaac and I went to a recycle baby shower for Melissa, AJ, Sebastian and Baby #3 who's due in June. They moved to Fargo last summer and we miss them in our playgroup. It's good to have other little boys for Isaac to play with. Isaac loved playing with his friends and of course enjoyed all the goodies. Our friend Erinn always has the best parties at her house.

After the shower we stopped by Donavan's office and Isaac had more treats from his best buddy at SJS Miss Tina--who spoils him rotten:). I didn't know you could buy donut holes with jelly inside. Are you kidding me???? They are Isaac's new favorite treat. I gave up sweets for Lent, but couldn't convince Isaac to do the same.

After our trip to the doctor this morning we learned Isaac's ears are free of infection. We are so excited. I hope they can stay clear until spring. He has this nagging cough which is caused by post nasal drip.

Now, we're going to do some painting on the easel. Isaac found the crayola paints Gigi gave him for Christmas and he's going to work on a master piece.

SJS Jog

We spent Sat. morning at the St. Joseph's School jog. The goal was met for the number of students participating so Donavan ran in this costume. Donavan ran the fun run in this suit (I actually thought the uniform was a little offensive). His quads are hurting today. I ran in the 5k race and it was a really challenging course. Uphill climbs every time I looked up. I did run it just under my goal time of 30 minutes.

We've been spending a lot of time at home this weekend working on potty training. Isaac has not had any accidents in the last 3 days and even wore big boy underwear out to dinner last nite. He's been telling us when he has to go to the bathroom. He even went #2 twice in the potty today. He's so proud and we're just thrilled about his progress. Diaper free here we come.

Isaac and I made cinnamon muffins this morning before church. He loves helping in the kitchen. His fav. parts were breaking the eggs and the hand mixer.

Silly Isaac

While at my parents house in Indiana Isaac liked playing with this box. He wanted his Poppi to get inside the box with him. Obviously, that did not happen. I thought this was a cute pic so I wanted to post it.

Hiking in Victoria Bryant State Park

We visited Victoria Byrant Park over the weekend. It was a beautiful day on Sunday to go hiking and watch the geese. Isaac likes walking on the trails himself, which means we walk very slowly. After about a mile we convinced him to ride on Donavan's back in the backpack. We took the pugs, although didn't get any pictures of them. Originally, we were going to take Quincy ("baby beaner"), but Isaac would not leave the house without Rascal too so both dogs came. Typically Rascal gets very winded, but he did really well on Sunday. We've noticed that equality is really important to Isaac (maybe it's a phase). For example, if Donavan is having a snack Isaac wants to make sure I have a snack, etc...

Isaac is doing really well on the potty training front. He went #2 in the potty today at home which is a first for us. He's wearing his big boy underwear when we're at home and diapers when we venture out. He wore his underwear for a quick trip to the store today and had an accident. I think that will help him learn.

Re-Cap of Visit to Indiana

Here are some pics from our visit in Indiana last week. First, we headed to Auburn to help our nieces (Ella and Emerson) celebrate their 1st birthdays. Then, after dropping Donavan off at the airport on Sunday Isaac and I went to Lafayette (hometown) for a 3 day visit with all of Isaac's grandparents, and great grandparents.
Isaac just loved being with his cousins. He loves sharing with them and particularly enjoyed "helping" them open the gifts. It was helpful that Ella and Emerson have another cousin who is about Isaac's age and they were quite the team when it came to opening presents.
I always take a zillion pics when we get together with family. Here is a smattering of my collection from our trip.

Ceramics playdate at Belles and Beaus

We met up with our playgroup on Friday morning to paint ceramics. Last spring I attempted to get Isaac's hand prints on a plate and after three tries (and three separate plates) I gave up. This time I didn't even attempt the hand prints, I think Donavan needs to come along to help. I watched Isaac paint a plate and decided that I'm keeping it. The products from the last round of painting ceramics ended up being gifts. Isaac's favorite part of the play date were the yummy treats Julee brought.

Week in Review

Another week has flown by and I've neglected our blog.

This past weekend Mimi Yarnall came to visit. I don't have many pics as the visit was 24 hours long and Donavan and I weren't here for most of it. We really appreciate her coming to take care of Isaac. Donavan and I went to a work related dinner/mass in Atlanta. We spent the nite and came home on Sunday to find Isaac having a great time with Mimi. They went to Chick Fil A, Barnes and Noble, played in the sunshine with his trucks, rode his trike and went to church together.

Isaac had a great time playing with his buddies Ryan and Connor while the moms ran in a 5 k race on Saturday at Sandy Creek park. I have decided that running in cold weather is much more difficult than a more seasonable climate. Our time improved by 4 minutes which I was really excited about. I look forward to the next one.

Donavan and Isaac enjoyed cheering the Steelers to a victory in the Super Bowl. Isaac has learned the "here we go Steelers" chant, but will only sing it if he has the terrible towel in hand.

We just got back from lunch with Donavan at Clocked in downtown Athens. What a fun dive. I've now had enough grease to last me the next month. The reuben was delicious and Isaac particularly liked the tater tots (haven't had those since high school).
